The Booth Incentives Store Image

The Booth Incentives Store

The incentive program reinforces regular attendance and dedication to classes for our students.

The Booth Program provides students and program participants an added incentive to do well in education through the Booth Incentive Store. By participating in class and life skills courses, students earn “Booth Bucks” which are spent in the incentive store on everyday items for their baby such as formula, diapers, wipes and clothing.

Parenting teens who lack financial support from their parents are at a greater risk of falling behind in their education. Many teens face the hard choice of having to drop out of school in order to financially provide for the things their new baby needs. Through the support of the Booth Incentive Store, young parents are able to become self-sufficient in providing basic needs for their baby. This program helps students see that school is their work and keeps them engaged in their education. It also teaches real life skills about budgeting and financial planning.

The students have the potential to earn up to $170 dollars a month in "Booth Bucks" for things like good attendance and by participating in social services provided by the Army. The girls can then use these earnings in this store to buy things they might need for themselves or for their babies. In addition to being able to buy a variety of items, the girls are also required to purchase a specific amount of diapers and wipes each week. This gives the girls an understanding of the significant financial commitment that comes with having a child.

Most of the items are priced equivalent to thrift store pricing, to give a realistic idea of what they need to earn, at a minimum, to be able to care for their child.
